Three out of every four AISD students can not pass the Texas physical fitness test. The results came out earlier this week.
The test is made up of six components... Sit-ups, stretching, a mile run, push ups as well as a height and weight index. Here's how the results break down. 16.4% of students in grades three through twelve passed all of the components. 244 students didn't pass at all.
Palo Duro High Athletic Department Head Steve Nelson doesn't like the test and wants it changed. "I'm hoping they will eliminate the mandatory test completely and just let the physical education teachers do their jobs and give the kids the tools that they need so that when they grow up they can have a lifetime of health and fitness."
