Several roads around Amarillo may be getting a face lift soon.

The Texas Department of Transportation today approved a one point five billion dollar bond.

It was five years ago that Texas voters approved proposition 14 highway bonding.

And today over a billion dollars was approved to begin new road repairs.

All TxDOT districts will supply wish lists to the state commission next month.

The local district says this money is needed because maintenance projects all over the panhandle have been put on hold because of a lack of funding.

Now they hope projects that get approved can start at the beginning of 2009.

"When we're talking maintenance we're talking about overlay projects like they're doing here on I-27. New Pavement, New Concrete on existing lanes... not building new lanes," said Paul Braun, the TxDOT Spokesman.

The Panhandle has received portions of the 3 billion dollars proposition 14 has already allowed.

But it's not guaranteed the local district would receive any money it's likely some will come to the Panhandle.

Paul Braun says they began compiling the list of the projects.

Now we want to hear from you.

Let us know where you think a portion of highway needs to be repaired around the Panhandle.
