Fire and rescue response times are faster in Gray County with help from the community. The Lefors Fire and Rescue Team is hoping to raise $30,000 today to help pay off the debt for a new first responding fire truck as well as an ambulance.
Archie Summers of the Fire Department says until the new vehicles were purchased response time was slower than they wanted because the equipment was not reliable. Now anyone who calls for help will quickly receive the help they need.
"We have many mutual agreements with many of the surrounding fire departments, McClean, Hoover, Wheeler, Mobeetie, Pampa all those, we also mutual aid anytime they need help. We'll go to Amarillo, anywhere they call and need help," says Summers.
