NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A mother of 5 is the new "Nashville Star."
Melissa Lawson beat fellow finalist Gabe Garcia for the title. Shawn Mayer came in third.
Lawson was overjoyed at winning, shouting "Oh my God!" She said "It is not just me that just won this competition. It was everyone that voted for me. We won!" She then performed her new single "What If It All Goes Right." The song hits country radio today (Tuesday). John Rich produced the tune. Lawson wins a record contract.
The judges were happy with American's choice for the final two contestants. Jewel congratulated the American people for putting "the right two people here for the finals."
