It's a question most Amarilloans are asking.. What is happening at the Potter County Sheriff's Department.

"There are a lot of people saying there's a lot of problems and there really isn't. I can't see the problems they are talking about." Potter County Sheriff Ron Boyter says.

Resignations of Captain Dennis Horn, and Lt. Charlie Johnson, the termination of administrative assistant Jamie Cordoba, and suspension of Captain Roger Haney have lifted some eyebrows.

Sheriff Boyter says all of those decisions are part of his plan to restructure the department... Even if he is just interim Sheriff.

"They gave me a job to do, maybe not all the commissioners voted for me but I think as a lot they gave me a job to do, to get this department back running in the right direction and I intend to do that and I intend to do that my way and not anybody else. We are trying to save some money number one, trying to get rid of a lot of waste. We are trying to streamline the department to make each department more efficient. The jail we have that pretty well set." Sheriff Boyter says.

We addressed speculation that Sheriff Boyter is just the figure head for some commissioners agenda's

"Absolutely not, you can ask them if you want to you can ask the people here if you want to. There is a lot of things that I think the commissioners would like me to have done personnel wise and if you will ask them none of those have been done. And I told them flat out, right to their face that it's not going to be done."

He has a challenge to those who still question his decisions.

"They can just come down and talk to the people who work here. If they don't believe me or trust me come down and talk to the people who work here." Sheriff Boyter says.
