News Minute: Here is the latest New Mexico news from The Associated Press

Gasoline prices continue to dip. AAA's Fuel-Gauge report this morning puts the national average price of a gallon of regular at $4.04 a gallon. That's down about 2 cents from yesterday. In New Mexico, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.03, a penny less than yesterday.

SANTA FE (AP) - The state Supreme Court has upheld the murder and kidnapping convictions of a former Albuquerque school janitor serving life for the killing of a school occupational therapist in 2003. However, the court reversed 6 of the nine convictions of evidence tampering that Martin Saiz also received.

(AP) - The National Weather Service says there is again the potential this afternoon and evening for heavy rains, primarily in the western half of the state. It says there also could be localized flash flooding. It says the shower activity tomorrow will mainly be confined to the northwestern two-thirds of New Mexico.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Even Smokey Bear has his critics. A group that advocates motorized recreation says the Forest Service icon is sending the wrong message when Smokey warns ATV riders not to start their vehicles in a national forest because they can spark fires. The Forest Service says the ad isn't meant to dissuade ATV use, but to urge caution during the high-risk fire season.
