4 People Shot, Suspect In Custody

Four people remain in the hospital tonight following two separate shootings in east Amarillo this evening.

Amarillo Police tell us the first shooting happened in the 2600 block of South Spring around 4:30pm. They say two people were shot and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The second happened nearly 15 minutes later in the 1000 block of Bagarry. There, police say two more people were shot and also taken to the hospital.

We're told three of the victims are in critical condition and one is listed as stable.

The suspect was implicacted in a carjacking on 3600 Chicago around 5:26pm. The APD SWAT team captured the suspect behind 306 Grand Street.

Police say they do have a suspect in custody but only after a manhunt ensued. The suspect took off after the shootings and had officers chasing him down for a couple of hours.

They then put out a warning on his vehicle. "They were looking for a white Camry and then got a call to the 3704 area of Chicago for an attempted carjacking," says Cpl. Thomas Thomas, APD

Police found the white Camry but not the suspect. They finally spotted him at 3rd & Grand in a fenced in area, where he was taken into custody nearly two hours after the first shot was fired.
