Clovis Police Gear Up for A Safe Summer

Clovis police are working a lot of overtime to make sure everyone is safe on the streets this summer.

It's called A Hundred Days and Nights.

The Clovis Police Department receives thousands of dollars to help pay for increased patrols for the next three months.

Officers look for crime, speeding violations and drunk drivers.

Sergeant Robert Denny says officers do see the impact they have on the streets.

"More officers that people are seeing actually does deter some crime. The more visible officers are, it helps add a nice side affect," Denny said.

The summer program has been funded by the state for the past two years.

Sergeant Denny says each year the number of calls increase, which means their presence is making a difference.
