Ding Dong Daddy of Dumas

"I'm a Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas. You ought to see me do my stuff. "

Those words have been sung all across the world. But everybody wants to know what is a Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas?

It started back in 1948, when KDDD went on the air. The owner of the radio station Ken Duke, decided the station needed a caricature.

He commissioned Amarillo artist Hut Hudson to make one, and the Ding Dong Daddy was born. The Ding Dong Daddy became popular in the early 50's .

KDDD loaned the logo to the Dumas Chamber of Commerce for use in promoting Dumas.

The song "I'm a Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas" has been covered by such notables as Bob Wills, Louis Armstrong and Phil Harris, band leader for the Jack Benny radio show.
