Meat Recalls Easier to Know About

Protecting your families safety and health has become easier thanks to a new system now in place by the USDA.

The USDA is trying to make it easier for consumers to find out if their local grocery sold recalled meat.

They have implemented a system where organization will list retail stores receiving meat and poultry products involved in class 1 recalls.

Those recalls poise a serious health risk or even death.

Joe Murray with Fiesta Foods in Amarillo says, "We get calls all the time from consumers, customers wanting to know, has this been recalled I saw this in the paper or I heard something on radio, or on television. It's very important.'

Retailers now have 30 days to make sure they are registered correctly before the process starts.

Murray says, "It will help everybody, for one thing people won't have to call around to find out what is going on, they can get all the information on one single website."

After a recall is announced... All stores will be listed on the site within 3 to 10 days of the announcement.

If you don't have the internet... The store will still post signs with recall information and we will always keep you informed of recalls that affect your families safety and health.
