ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain will be back in New Mexico this afternoon. He will be in Albuquerque for a private fundraiser this evening, then tomorrow he will field questions from New Mexicans at a town hall meeting, also in Albuquerque.

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - Albuquerque police have identified a man who was fatally shot in a fight downtown yesterday. He's 23-year-old Lawrence Vargas.

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A New Mexico-bred mare is targeting a July 27th race at Ruidoso Downs to try for a record-setting 17th straight victory. However, Peppers Pride trainer Joel Marr says the decision to enter the 6-furlong Lincoln Handicap won't be made until a few days before the race.

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A couple who own an Albuquerque-area contracting firm have been indicted on racketeering, fraud, embezzlement, forgery and tax evasion counts. Scott Construction Company owners Scott and Marie Everett are accused of making false representations to homeowners and of committing tax fraud.
