Water Wasters is Working!, 7-8-08

Despite the fact that we've been seeing quite a bit of rain recently, our viewers are still diligent in turning in water wasters.

NewsChannel 10's Kristen Guilfoos is on assignment:

The rain didn't stop our water waster efforts on Tuesday. We grabbed our umbrellas and headed out to two businesses, each with a very large presence in Amarillo. First to get a phone call today... Northwest Texas Hospital. The pictures a viewer sent me show a sprinkler turned into a geyser...a broken head causing water to shoot up several feet into the air. Here's some good news... You won't be seeing a geyser at Northwest again...I spoke with them this afternoon and they tell me the broken sprinkler is now fixed.

Next up.... Happy State Bank. "I received some photos via email showing your Coulter location has a few broken sprinkler heads." Happy State Bank was very cooperative. Gary Wells, Happy State President, says "If you see things like that, let us know and we'll get them fixed." Wells says Happy State takes water conservation very seriously...afterall, they have a direct tie to the issue. "We do a lot of ag lending." Which is why he says water problems will be fixed as soon as possible. "We realize how precious a resource it is and how vital it is to this economy." Wells tells me he contacted Happy State's lawn maintenance company...the sprinklers will be fixed first thing Wednesday morning.

As always, keep sending in photos of water wasting around our community. Send them to me at waterwasters@newschannel10.com.
