Sunscreens Fail the Test

It promises to protect you from the sun's rays, but some sunscreens just aren't making the grade. The Environmental Working Group claims four out of five brand-name sunscreens either provide inadequate sun protection or contain chemicals that may be unsafe. The group is calling on the Food and Drug Administration to implement promised changes in sunscreen labeling requiring manufactures to provide more information about the level of sun protection. Those labeling upgrades were passed by the FDA last August, but changes have not been made. The study included more than 900 brand-name sunscreens. Only one from Banana Boat, the second largest seller, and one from Neutrogen, the third largest seller, made the cut. Here is a look at the top rated sunscreens.
