Former Colombian Presidential Candidate Freed

A former presidential candidate is rescued from leftist rebels today. Ingrid Betancourt was taken hostage in 2002 while campaigning for Colombia's presidency.

This is a photo of Betancourt released by rebels in 2007.

Officials say 14 other hostages were released with Betancourt, including three US contractors, the rest were Colombian soldiers and police.

Colombian police negotiated the releases without any losses of life.

Betancourt's son told the Associated Press that the news of his mothers release, is the "Most beautiful news of his life."'
