West Nile Case Confirmed in Randall County

The first human case of the West Nile virus has been confirmed in Randall County

The City of Amarillo says they confirmed the case Friday with the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The city is urging everyone to be aware when it comes preventing mosquito bites.

They say to use insect repellant that contains DEET, to dress in light colored pants and long sleeved shirts when outdoors, to wear insect repellant when outdoors in prime mosquito feeding times (Dusk and Dawn), and to drain any type of standing water from flower pots and old tires.
