Inmate Walks Away From Custody

An inmate who walked away from police custody is Wednesday afternoon is still at large.  Potter County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for, 22- year old Gerry Don Smith an African American male who is 5'10, 165 pounds, with a scruffy beard. Smith has several tattoos and escaped wearing orange coveralls.

Smith was working as a trustee for the Potter County Detention Center. He was working with 2 other trustees at the fleet maintenance facility at 421 Bowie Street.

Smith is serving time for two misdemeanor charges, which is not considered dangerous.   He was scheduled to be released from custody within 30 days. When Apprehended Smith faces felony charges and a minimum of 5 years in prison.
