Most Oklahoma Lakes and Rivers Polluted

Almost all of Oklahoma's lakes and rivers fail to meet federal water quality standards for pollution.

A report done by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality says only five bodies of water in the state are clear of harmful levels of pollution.

But that's better than years past, when no bodies of water met quality standards.

This is the first time any body of water has met all of the federal water quality requirements.

Those five bodies of water are in the eastern part of the state.

The report says 94 percent of the state's lakes and 80 percent of its rivers are polluted.
