The high temperatures we experience here in the Panhandle are low compared to those our soldiers battle in the Middle East.

A Panhandle woman is fulfilling her mission to help soldiers stay cool while serving our country. Shaleigh Schneider says her husband Brent hardly ever asks her to send him anything while serving in Afghanistan.

But then he has told her daily high temperatures were in the 120's and he can not sleep at night.  It was then Schneider says her mission to send electric fans to the troops began.

"So I asked if he wanted me to send him one and he said yes and so I sent him two last Saturday and on Sunday I work in the church nursery and there was this lady there and she asked if I was married and I told her yes and about Brent and how he was hot and she said I don't know how much money I have in my purse but I feel God is telling me to give it to you," she says.

Schneider started a website Fans 4 Afghanistan and says she has had a great response but needs help.
