High Speed Chase Lands One Behind Bars

A Pampa man is arrested after leading police on a high speed pursuit Friday morning.

Pampa Police say a detective tried to pull over 23 year old Jessie Richard Salley in the 1800 block of Hamilton in Pampa just before 10:00 Friday morning. They say when the detective approached the vehicle, Salley sped off through a backyard of the residence.

Police say Salley traveled north on Highway 70 north of Pampa in speeds excess of 120 miles an hour. Salley finally surrendered to police near Perryton after Ochiltree County Sheriff's deputies used spike strips to stop the vehicle.

Police say they found two handguns and what appeared to be a military issued body armor vest. It is a felony crime for a convicted felon to be in possession of the body armor and the handguns.

Salley is being held in the Gray County jail on a charge of unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Other charges are pending.
