First copper, now platinum.

Thieves are targeting vehicles around the area for their catalytic converters because they contain platinum.

Top Gun Auto is starting to see more vehicles come through without their converters. In one instance, it was a bus in a church parking lot that had two converters swiped. The bigger the converter, the higher the cost is to replace it.

It only takes a couple of minutes to swipe a converter...using a battery powered saw and a little bit of light.

The Randall County Sheriff's Office has recently beefed up patrols to try to catch as many thieves as possible.

One way to try to keep a converter from being swiped off your vehicle is to park in your garage, if you have one.  Also, park as close as possible to your home and in a well lit place.
