Burmese in Moore County

Rowdy Rhodes, Moore County Judge Rowdy Rhodes, Moore County Judge

Now that the Swift plant is booming with Burmese workers...The communities are trying to make it a smooth transition as well.

Moore County officials along with Cactus and Dumas city officials, law enforcement, school and hospital representatives are all coming together to form a committee to help the refugees get better acquainted with the community.

Moore County Judge Rowdy Rhodes tells NewsChannel 10 that Swift is at the highest production in months and that Swift pays better than other packing plants in the panhandle.

More refugees are expected to come to the area.
