Area To Receive $1.8 Million From Settlement

Nearly $2 million dollars of state money is coming to our area to help offset health care costs.

The money is designed to help hospital districts and counties recover money spent on indigent health care in 2007. The funds come from the Texas Tobacco Settlement Permanent Trust Account.

Since 2001, hospital districts across the state have been given nearly $430 million from the fund.
