OK Teen Traffic Deaths Down

The number of teenagers involved in traffic deaths is down in Oklahoma.  An Oklahoma Department of Public Safety official says teen driving deaths are down 44 percent since 2000.

That is when the state became the 33rd in the U.S. to implement a graduated driver's license program.

Since tougher teen driving laws took effect in 2005, the number of teenagers with a learner's permit or restricted license has dropped 21 percent.

Census data shows those drops come at a time when the number of teen drivers has actually gone up between 2003 and 2006.
