With die hard fans cheering on their favorite teams at sports bars across the country, those behind the bar say they are taking a cautious approach this year.

Some bars are basing it on a set limit, while others say it is about the person.

Scott Smiles with Slicks Bar says, "My staff first off is trained, because when people drink they get happy, and the happier they get then we use that to gauge if they are getting over the top. And then we will slow the drinks down or switch them to food, cokes, juice."

Other sports bars like Buffalo Wild Wings say they agree that every person handles alcohol differently... But to play it safe they have set a standard for every one.

Jeff Sherill with Buffalo Wild Wings says, "Generally as a rule we try to go by the four drink limit. Four drinks in one hour is when you are legally intoxicated. It takes one drink for every hour after that and we kind of go by that rule. Of course our servers are TABC trained to look at the table and gauge how they are behaving. We won't ever serve a guest. "

You may not know what a drink really is either... Because size can be deceiving.  It's not just about over drinking... It's about getting fans home safely as well.

"If they need a designated driver we've got guys here that have even taken some of the regulars home. But generally yeah, we use a cab." Smiles says.

Managers and bartenders ask those headed out to watch the games this weekend to remember, if they cut you off or slow you down... They are doing it for your safety.
