New Identity Theft Prevention Website

Preventing and minimizing the damage from identity theft. That's what a new website allows you to do.

The Texas Attorney General's office calls the new website "an identity theft victim's kit."

The site has information on canceling bank accounts, filing affidavit with the proper government agency and most of all, reporting the crime to the police.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott says "a lot of people think that a lot of identity theft is something that happens over the Internet and on computers. That's true, however, the reality is most cases of identity theft still takes place the old fashioned way, which is based upon hard documents."
