It wasn't suppose to be about green at the 62nd annual st. Patty's day celebration today in Shamrock.
This year theme "Red, White, and Blue for 62" had some sporting their patriotic colors.. but thousands still showed up in green attire to take part in the carnival rides and concessions.
And while it was about fun, for some it was about being number one.... Number one in the lawn mower races that is.
David Hill, a local lawn mower competitor says, "It's a 1999 murry wide-body. It's been modified from the front bumper to the rear bumper. There is not much left on that any lawn mower any more. It still has lawn mower transmission, lawn mower engine, and it kinda looks like a lawn mower."
Hill, a four time Texas lawn mower race winner, placed first in his class. Hill was just one of thousands out to enjoy the fun... And for locals they say the event is all about getting people to Shamrock.
Resident Lynn Ramsey says, "It brings in a lot of people, gets a lot of exposure. It's a big boost to the economy locally so it's just a great day."
