A ten million dollar lawsuit is lodged against a chiropractic company that has a clinic in Amarillo.
Allstate Insurance Company is suing Chiropractic Strategies Group, Inc. for alleged fraud.
The lawsuit says deception and coercion were used by those clinics against people involved in car accidents.
Here is what Allstate says the clinics, including Washington Street Chiropractic in Amarillo, did:
Posing as telemarketers and sometimes as Allstate representatives, they would contact people who had been in an accident and offer them a consultation. Those people were then told they had extensive injuries and put through a treatment plan.
Bill Mellander of Allstate says, "it is then through a process called conversion where they are deceived into becoming a long-term chiropractic patient.
The new patient was then referred to a personal injury lawyer. Some of these lawyers are also included in the lawsuit.
In all, there are 66 defendants listed in the complaint.
We tried speaking with the clinic in Amarillo about the lawsuit, but they said they knew nothing about it.
