HIV Research Coming to Amarillo

Research on HIV will come to the Panhandle area.

The Amarillo City Commission approved in its meeting today a 40 thousand dollar grant to fund HIV research in this part of Texas. The city will have one person on staff to monitor HIV cases.

That person will investigate, review, and report the HIV cases to the Texas Department of Dtate Health Services.

This kind of research is conducted around the state and the city's public health department says Amarillo seemed like a logical choice for doing the study in this part of the state.

The grant will extend until the end of the year.
