More Information To Be Offered on Sex Offender Registry

Where they go to school and where they work. That information and much more on sex offenders will go on the Texas Sex Offender Registry's website as the site gets a makeover.

When the registry is redone this spring, you will not only be able to find out where the offenders live and/work, but you also will be able to sign up for email alerts. Those will tell people when an offender has moved into their neighborhood and when an offender's information is changed.

Potter County District Attorney says this is a step in the right direction.  He says "the more information we have out there on these people, the better."

After the site's makeover, records will also show conviction information in and out of Texas.

Right now anyone can search for an offender by name or zip code and information comes up on that offender's physical description, photos, offenses and legal status.
