Winter Driving Safety

The winter weather mixed with the wind can cause dangerous driving conditions. Take a look at the wreckage that has already happened this season on portions of I-40 around Amarillo.

And with more snow coming tomorrow... The Texas Department of Transportation is warning drivers to slow down, be alert, and drive defensively.

Paul Braun with TXDot says, "You normally leave 3 or 4 seconds between you and the vehicle in front of you. You need to leave a lot more distance than that if it is possible that you are going to encounter white out conditions."

Braun says TXDot will alert drivers of conditions on electronic boards on the freeways.

He says drivers should be aware of those... Because even though conditions may not be bad where you are... They may be up the road.
