Area Fire Investigators Suspect Copycat Arsonist

Area fire investigators suspect they're dealing with not just one arsonist but two.

Investigators say they think they're facing a copycat. That's because the latest suspicious fire is different from the previous seven arson strikes in Hutchinson county since November.

"All of the previous arson fires were linked by the same incendiary device. This fire did not have that same device," says Deputy Fire Marshal Garrett Spradling.

Investigators say they're following a lead from a witness who claims he saw a vehicle drive away north of Stinnett, shortly after flames broke out there on January 19th.

An area reward for information leading to an arsonist's conviction is close to $9,000, and officials hope to pump it up to $10,000.
