The Amarillo Symphony Orchestra hosted its annual Young Performer's Competition today.

The competition, at the West Texas A&M University Mary Moody Northen Hall, featured 17 area high school students participating in four categories.

Sherry Burgess with the competition says, "It's one of the things that the Amarillo Symphony Guild is really proud because the kids really work hard. Each student performs their piece by memory and it is an incredible thing to do that."

The winner, violinist Erin Weber, a junior at Amarillo high, will be performing with the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra this spring.

All part of the grand prize package she is taking home.
