New Dog Restraint Law

If you leave your dog outside... A new law could be changing the way you restrain them. Owners now cannot leave a dog outside, unattended, on a restraint that unreasonably limits the dogs movement.

Meaning the dog is on a pinch-type, prong type, or choke-type collar.

Unreasonable limits also means the dog is restrained less than 10 feet or five times the length of the dog from nose to tail.

the law goes into affect during the hours of 10 pm and 6 am.

And applies to those who live within 500 feet of a school or when there are extreme weather conditions.

Meaning the temperature is below 32 degrees, when a heat advisory is issued or during hurricane, tropical storm or tornado warning.
