City Thinking About Red Light Camera's

It could mean big revenue for Amarillo, if red light traffic camera's are approved.

That's what city commissioners were told today at their work session. Cameras were installed on a trial basis at nine major intersections in Amarillo and monitored during morning and afternoon rush hours.

The results, 226 violations in eight hours. Which means at 75 dollars per ticket, that would translate into six million dollars annually for the city.

Commissioners took no action today and will continue discussing the issue at their next session.
