The Big Texan Makes Hollywood

A local restaurant is receiving recognition from Hollywood.

The Big Texan Steak Ranch is known for its free 72 ounce steak, and now the Travel Channel will be featuring the steak house in a new series.

"Food Paradise" is a series that features food and leisure destinations around the country.

The producer of the show, Kaylyn Thornal, says she researches restaurants and time after time she heard that the big Texan was definitely a place to make a trip.

"I mean everybody knows about this place all over Texas. You cant travel 30 miles without seeing a billboard sign that has it publicized, "Free 72 ounce steak" so we had to come out here and check things out."

And even with all of the talk of the steak house, Thornal was still impressed by the setup.

"I mean its actually know its so hard to get an idea of what a place is like from a brochure, you don't get the whole scope of it. Its better and more entertaining, I would have to say."

After a day of touring the city the climax for the Travel Channel crew, was to catch the attempt by three men at the 72 ounce challenge.

None of them made it through the steak, salad, baked potato, side veggie and dinner roll, but they put in great effort.
