Potter County Sheriff Mike Shumate will be going to trial. Shumate's attorney wants the case heard in Potter County... In front of members of the community Shumate serves.
Todays docket call set up a preliminary timeline for his trial. Meaning the Sheriff could be in front of a judge between the last part of May and the first weeks of June.
Shumates attorney says they have a lot of work to do before it gets to that point.
Seldon Hale says, "I have asked for all the witness statements that they plan to present and there will be a lot of documents that they are going to present. I announced to the court that i am going to have about 30 witnesses to testify against these claims by the Attorney General's office, and so its going to take a while."
