Heart Hospital Seeing More Young Patients

Younger people are checking into hospitals for it more and more, and some say it will only get worse.

We're talking about heart disease, and the Texas Heart Hospital in Amarillo is seeing a spike in the number of younger patients.

Years ago, a forty year old going into the emergency room after a massive heart attack would be surprising to most people.

But the director of the Texas Heart Hospital tells us it is now common to see heart disease patients under fifty.

And she says as people continue to not exercise, eat junk food, and let stress get the better of them, the problem will only intensify.

And that spells trouble for generations to come.

But not if people will catch the warning signs early. If you have a family history, start getting checked in your twenties. If you do not have a family history, doctors say start those checkups at age 30.
