Exercise 101 For Beginners

Whether your New Year's resolution is to tone up, bulk up, or just shed pounds, if you are a beginner at exercising there are several mistakes you should avoid.

Trainers say because they want instant results, beginning exercisers often throw themselves into a workout that is too strenuous.  But that can do more harm than good.

When starting out with cardio workouts, trainers say start slow and easy.

Not only that, but start out with those ten minutes once or twice a week and work your way up to three or four days a week.

And if you're a beginner at weightlifting, trainers tell us the safe way to go about it is to work out with a trainer or someone who has been lifting for a long time.

Starting off a workout, whether it be cardio or weightlifting, too hard will cause muscle soreness and even injuries like sprains and tears.
