Raise for Some of Area's Lowest Paid Workers

Some of our area's lowest paid workers can count count on a raise. New Mexico's minimum wage is now $6.50 an hour.

That's up from $5.15 an hour last year. The state standard will overlap with federal increases in effect since last summer.

The governor's office says workers can expect to take home an extra dollar when the minimum wage increases again in 2009.
