Free Radon Detectors for New Mexico Residents

New Mexico officials are trying to raise awareness about a deadly gas. Officials will be handing out free Radon detectors to residents next month.

It's all part of their plan to get information out about the radioactive gas, which is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the US.

Research has found that about 25% of New Mexico homes exceed the federal level of the colorless and odorless gas.

Officials say the gas comes from soil... Then enters through basements, crawl spaces, and foundation cracks.
