Interstate 40 near the U.S. 287 split just east of Amarillo is now open after a large pile-up involving multiple vehicles. Police estimates upwards of 80 vehicles are involved in the accident.
A spokesman for Northwest Texas Hospital say a triage has been set up at Amarillo's Rick Husband International Airport for those injured in the accident. She says 17 patients are at the airport right now in non-critical condition. She says both BSA and Northwest have at least 8 people in critical condition from the accident.
