Area Non-Profits Get $180,000 From XCEL Energy

Non-profit groups in parts of Texas and New Mexico will be sharing $182,500 dollars in grant money from XCEL Energy.

XCEL announced Tuesday that several agencies in our area will benefit from the grant, which is designed to promote arts and culture, and environmental stewardship and education.

$20,000 will be spent to plant trees at McDonald Lake in southwest Amarillo.

The Amarillo Opera will receive $7,500 to reach out to diverse audiences and to offer artistic enrichment in rural areas.
