Local Stores Not Asking For ID

With identity theft running rampant in our area, you would think retailers would ask for identification when customers pay, no matter what the payment.

When we went shopping at five different stores, only one asked for identification.

At each store we used a credit card with no picture on it.  And only one store asked to see a license.

Retailers say countless customers see it as an inconvenience, but they say it is for their own protection.

So why are some retailers not asking for ID, whether it be credit card, debit card, or check?

APD says bigger retailers don't care.  A $35 hot check means nothing compared to the billions they make.

So the best thing customers can do is use a debit card since a pin number must be used to make a purchase.
