Flu Vaccinations Shot Vs. Mist

Hundreds of Amarillo residents die every year from the flu. Doctors warn the best way to prevent those deaths is by vaccinating.

But the question is...should you get the shot or the nose spray?
The traditional shot in the arm contains a dead virus that is approved for just about anyone six months or older. The flu mist which is nasal spray, has some restrictions and safety concerns because it's a live virus.

"Not everyone is eligible to take it for instance if their less than 2 years of age. If they're immunal compromised and certain other specific situations they wouldn't be a good candidate for the live vaccine."

Pregnant women are not eligible for the mist either. Both vaccines cost about the same. So doctors say choose one and get vaccinated.
