Teen Christmas

For the second night in a row, the Wal Mart on 45th and Coulter has played home to underprivileged kids getting an early Christmas.

Tonight, it was more than 200 teens who got the $50 dollar gift cards. The cards were used for clothes and shoes.

Various people and organizations donated the cards to help out with the Christmas joy.

"They are really nice, and I really do appreciate it. It's not everyday that I get to do things like this. God bless those people," said Porcha Batton, who received a card.

Parents filled out applications for the vouchers several months ago, and all throughout the day the teens stopped in to shop.

Also on the scene were Chik-Fil-A and the Amarillo Gorillas. Chik-Fil-A was providing some free meals, and the Gorillas were there for a meet and greet and to sign autographs.

"Everyone has to have a good Christmas. It's unfortunate that some people can't. If we can help, we're happy to do that," said Bill Vandermeer of the Gorillas.
