Talk Show Hosts Help Out Staff

The writer's strike is forcing some late night hosts to open their checkbooks.

Jay Leno has agreed to cover the salaries of about 80 of his non-writing staff members who were laid off by NBC last week.

Staffers with "Late Show with David Letterman" and "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" were promised continued payment at least through December by Letterman.

And Conan O'Brien has promised to cover about 75 "Late Night" staffers out of his own pocket.
