Sheriff Joel Richardson's New Appointment

Randall County Sheriff Joel Richardson is appointed to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.

Richardson will be one of nine commissioners who oversee licensing and training standards of law enforcement employees throughout the state.  The agency implements laws set by the state legislature. Richardson says he's honored by the appointment by governor perry and plans to uphold the goal of the commission which is to provide more competent safety services to texas communities.

"To see that peace officers in the state of texas comply with certain standards and have certain training and education that provide good service to the public."

Richardson plans to be sworn in at the commissions next meeting December 7th. His term will run six years and end in August of 2013.  He says while in office he will focus on ethics.
