Retailers Pull Tainted Jewelry Off Shelves

Two major retailers with stores in our area are pulling lead-contaminated children's jewelry from their shelves.

Discount retailer Big Lots and crafts store chain Michaels are discontinuing sales of the jewelry as part of a settlement with the New York attorney general's office.

The move comes as federal regulators are expected to announce a national voluntary recall of lead contaminated children's jewelry.

Consumer safety groups are also set to release their annual list of what they consider unsafe toys.
