Village Bakery Recognized

A local bakery received national recognition today.

Village Bakery Cafe was listed by USA Today as one of ten great places to enjoy artisan bread in the nation.

The owner's Phyllis and George Enloe have been in the bread business for just under 14 years. The couple is proud of their ranking with the other bakeries chosen.

"It's really an honor to be in that category and I think its interesting that we are the beef capital of the world but we're making some good bread too," George Enloe, Jr. Owner.

But even more important than the pride in their products' success, they are happy that they can continue the craft of making artisan bread.

"But our interest is in educating people locally to know good bread and enjoy good bread and pastry, because there is a difference."

The Village Bakery Cafe is located in the Wolflin Square and while they would love people to come enjoy their treats, they also want people to visit other great bakeries in the area, to experience their breads too.

Construction is underway on Canyon's new aquatic park, which is still on schedule to open to the public on June 1st. The aquatic park is just a bunch of holes in the ground right now. But when the slides go up (by April 10th), people will start to see how close the project is to completion.
