The Amarillo Red Cross is housing several people following a deadly two-alarm fire at an Amarillo apartment complex.
Just before four this afternoon, a fire broke out at the Estill Springs Annex apartments on W. 9th.
Fire officials say the body of a female was recovered from the building after the fire was extinguished. One eyewitness says she saw the woman ran back into an apartment, but was unable to get her to safety.
The Amarillo Fire Department tells us the apartments on the second floor suffered heavy smoke and fire damage.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time, and remains under investigation.
